New Auspit Motor: Will It Fit Your Old Auspit?

New Auspit Motors

Gone to replace the motor on your trusty Auspit and noticed the new one looks different? You're not the first to double-check. Here's the short answer: yes, the new Auspit motor fits your existing Auspit and bracket, exactly like the old one did. Same bracket, same shaft, same batteries, same performance. The only thing that's changed is the housing, which is now slimmer and neater.

Below we'll run through what's different, what isn't, and the questions we get asked most in store and over the phone.

The Short Answer: Yes, It Fits

The new motor was built to go straight onto every Auspit set-up already out there. It mounts to the same bracket and takes the same 8mm square shaft, so there's nothing to modify, no adaptor to buy and no new bracket needed.

If your old motor has finally given up after years of campsite roasts, the mild steel Auspit Drive Motor is a straight swap. Off with the old, on with the new, load the batteries and you're back to turning out crispy chooks.

What's Changed on the New Auspit Motor

One thing: the housing. We've slimmed down the body so it's less bulky and sits tidier on the bracket.

That's it. The internals and the specs haven't changed. Put the new one next to your old motor and the sleeker shape is the only difference you'll spot.

Both versions, mild steel and stainless steel, now come in the new design, and it's the only style we sell.

What Hasn't Changed on the Battery Spit Motor

Everything that actually matters when you're cooking:

  • 8kg capacity, so it handles the same chooks, legs of lamb and pork roasts it always has
  • Runs off 2x D-size batteries (not included), so there's no power needed at camp
  • Around 30 hours run time on standard batteries
  • 8mm square input shaft, the same as before
  • Same bracket fit on your Auspit

One tip worth knowing: better batteries go a long way. Some customers have got over 100 hours of run time from a good set, which is handy when you're a long way from the nearest shop.

Will the New Motor Fit My Old Auspit Bracket?

Yes. It sits on the bracket exactly the way your old motor did and takes the spit shaft the same way. If you know how to set up your Auspit, you already know how to fit this one. No tools, no mods, no guesswork.

Auspit Battery Rotisserie Motor FAQs

Will my old Auspit work with the new motor?

Yes. Every Auspit uses the same bracket and 8mm square shaft, and the new motor is built around both.

Do I need a new bracket or an adaptor?

No. Your existing bracket is all you need.

Will my old motor still fit a new Auspit?

Yes. The bracket and shaft haven't changed, so an old motor that's still going strong will keep working on a newer Auspit too.

Is the new motor less powerful because it's slimmer?

No. It's the same 8kg capacity, the same batteries and the same run time. Only the outside has been redesigned.

Is there a stainless steel version?

Yes. If you camp by the beach or anywhere salt-affected, the stainless steel Auspit motor is built for those conditions. It has the same slimmer housing and the same specs.

Can I still buy the old-style motor?

No, we only sell the new design now. With identical specs, you're not missing out on anything.

What if I need a motor for a bigger spit?

The Auspit motor is made for the Auspit. For larger set-ups, have a look at our full range of spit roast motors.

New look, same motor. If yours is tired, the replacement is a straight swap onto the bracket you already own, and it'll keep turning the roast while you sit back with the crew around the fire.
